New York, NY, March 19, 2013: The World Economic Forum has named Kim Slicklein, President of OgilvyEarth, the integrated global sustainability communications practice of advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather, a Young Global Leader for the Class of 2013.

Kim Slicklein is one of 199 honorees selected for this year’s class. She joins the more than 1,000 active YGL members and alumni who have a shared purpose of creating a better world. A veteran sustainability-marketing executive, Ms. Slicklein is a social entrepreneur and innovator in developing sustainability solutions.

In 2011 Slicklein was named President of OgilvyEarth, which was recognized by independent research firm Verdantix as a leading integrated marketing agency offering “genuine expertise in sustainability communications.” Under Slicklein’s leadership, OgilvyEarth has attracted new clients, many of whom are recognized thought leaders in sustainability, including the United Nations Foundation, USGBC, SMaRT Certified, the Carbon Disclosure Project, Tetra Pak, Delhaize Group, GlaxoSmithKline, and The Water Tank Project.

Prior to joining OgilvyEarth, Slicklein led sustainability and CSR initiatives at Droga5, including the launch of “WindMade” at the Davos World Economic Forum alongside the United Nations Global Compact, The World Wildlife Federation, The Global Wind Energy Council, PWC, Vestas, Lego, and Bloomberg. She spent six years building Enclave Rising, an international portfolio of companies rooted in environmental and social consciousness, each dedicated to developing and pioneering best practices in sustainability. Before launching Enclave Rising, Slicklein spent more than a decade leading new product innovation, brand strategy, project management, and big picture thinking for international blue chip companies.

Slicklein sits on the Board of Advisors for six organizations and was an Organizational Member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) for the United Nations Foundation.

“We are extremely proud that Kim has been named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader,” said Miles Young, Worldwide Chairman and CEO of Ogilvy & Mather, “Her leadership of OgilvyEarth has propelled our sustainability expertise to the forefront in the industry and elevated sustainability issues to the corporate agenda of many of our clients, helping them develop programs that move beyond traditional green marketing. I look forward to seeing the great things she will do for our agency as a Young Global Leader.”

Young Global Leaders represent the future of leadership, coming from all regions of the world and representing business, government, civil society, arts & culture, academia, and media, as well as social entrepreneurs. Every year, thousands of candidates from around the world are proposed through a qualified nomination process and assessed according to rigorous selection criteria. Only the best candidates, all under age 40, are selected and all efforts are extended to create a truly representative body.

A Young Global Leader (YGL) has a recognized record of extraordinary achievement, a proven track record of substantial leadership experience as well as a clear indication of playing a substantial leadership role for the rest of his or her career; has demonstrated a commitment to serve society at large through exceptional contributions; and has an impeccable record in the public eye and good standing in his or her community, as well as showing great self-awareness, a desire for learning and a global perspective. Already successful and accomplished in their own fields, the YGLs co-create a community of insight and action that is truly committed to improving the state of the world.

Slicklein says, “I am both humbled and honored to be included in this diverse and impressive community of leaders that have a collective and tremendous commitment to creating a better world. I fully embrace the opportunity to become partners with many of my fellow Young Global Leaders as we help build the society of the twenty-first century.”
